It ended very abruptly, no epilogue, etc. This is a good book - but compared to Julie Garwood's other books.it's a 3 out of 5 :)I was disappointed mainly in the ending. You don't know what happens to Victoria and Hunter, do Lucas and Taylor have babies, do they ever go to Lucas' and his brother ranch, etc.
The story line was solid and developed enough so that I didn't feel like it was a string of words between love scene after love scene like a few other romance novels I have tried. I am not an avid romance novel reader, however I really enjoyed this book. I had a great time relaxing and reading this book.
Get a better one. The story was so slow to begin, there was no chemistry, only such a bad dialogue. I wonder how it even got published. One moment they behave this way and next moment exactly the opposite. It would be such a waste of money to buy it. And such a waste of time to read it. The writing style is so awful, as if a child was the author. The main characters were just plain boring and had no personality at all.
God, it was boring. Forget this book. God, such an awful book. I skimmed through the first third, but then just gave up. I'm happy I just borrowed this book from the library.
As another poster stated, I had expected a grand show-down with the evil uncle but the book ended with a whimper. She is a very engaging story teller (although there were a few inconsistencies that bothered me - a daughter of a baronet is not called a lady [I believe] and a Native person with a full-blood grandparent is a quarterblood not a halfblood). The story line appeals to me as I enjoy the mixing of English nobility with the wild, west of America. I have always like Garwood as an author. There were times, though, which I found Taylor to be quite annoying and I regret that Madame wasn't in the book more. I've always liked this book. I have probably read it at least a half dozen times; however, it had been several years since the last time that I have read it. I believe that Lucas is a great character and I found myself enjoying the interactions between him and the children.
Everything you could want in a romance novel - two very likable leading characters with plenty of steamy chemistry between them, a couple of interesting sidekicks, a villain or two, and a great story with plenty of action. A keeper.
